Greetings! I’ve procrastinated writing this piece long enough. It’s time to dive in and trust my audience is willing to go with the flow. There’s a good chance I’ll obsessively edit, both before and after publishing. You’re welcome to check back periodically and see what’s new. One day you’ll be able to say you knew me when I was a fledgling writer — before I became the most successful wordsmith of our time.
I’ve discovered the joy in sharing humor and even earned a Top Writer badge in this category. It’s a very prestigious badge allowing access to experiences and secret underground clubs I’m not at liberty to share here. More importantly, my readers have laughed and experienced the resulting dose of endorphins also known as feel good hormones.
Browse the categories and take a deep dive into my funnybone ticklers. Send up red sparks if you need to be rescued from the rabbit hole.
The month began with April Fools’ Day and MuddyUm humorists have been keeping the foolhardy fun going. We’ve got enough laughs to get you through to May — and beyond. Grab your bottle of rum, or water if it’s your beverage of choice, and dive in.

As a child I felt confident playing follow-the-leader, excited to discover just what my followers were willing and able to do. Who would mimic every silly, wacky sound and movement their fearless leader could demonstrate?
Would they hop on one foot fifteen times? Could they cartwheel while cursing? A favorite was pat-your-head-and-rub-your-belly. I never had to worry about leading my followers astray or being responsible for their failures. It was simply an exercise in creativity.
Flash forward to adulthood and my leadership role feels much more ambiguous. Most of my social media followers are people I’ve never met, living all…
Welcome aboard! The MuddyUm editorial team agreed it’s time to highlight a couple of our contributing comic and cartoon artists. This is the first newsletter to feature original artwork by our fine pirate crew. I look forward to curating more art editions. They may not earn much based on ‘read time’ but these quirky creations add character to our humor pub. We think you’ll appreciate them as much as we do.
Follow the underlined ‘friend links’ and share with writer friends who may enjoy them, paywall free!
Author John Gray wrote about communication gender gaps in his book, Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus. If men are from Mars, can we send them back home when they misstep on Earth? Would women be happier relocating to Venus? Finally, what about folks who don’t identify exclusively as male or female — moon colonization?
Where will your spacey brainstorming lead you? The possibilities are infinite.
Sharing laughter and appreciating each other’s sense of humor is vital to relationships — romantic, familial, and platonic. February brings a day to celebrate those you love, or to proclaim your hatred of commercialized holidays.
For some folks, Valentine’s Day is a time to express love and appreciation to their favorite people. For others, it’s a reminder to speak out against consumerism.
This week’s newsletter collection includes humorous stories along with heartfelt reflections. The underlined MuddyUm titles are ‘friend links’ so everyone can read without hitting the paywall. Smile — and share — widely!
We’ve all read listicles with various versions of the same old side hustle suggestions. As Kristi Keller so eloquently put it, “Most Side Hustle Ideas Cause Dry-Heaving.” She’s ready for a new list. I’ve spent an entire hour coming up with fresh ideas I haven’t tested yet.
If that doesn’t give you the confidence to step out of your comfort zone and step-up your side hustle game, just stick to your online surveys and pet sitting gigs. This list is for the hustlers who know how to hustle. Startup costs range from $0–100 USD. …
